Assumes a typical single-family home of up to 2,000 square feet within the designated service area. Larger homes, additional dwelling units, or unusually complex assessments require a separate quote.
Does not include architectural or engineering services, detailed construction drawings, contractor estimates, medical or occupational therapy assessments, construction management, or a guarantee that all hazards will be identified or eliminated.
Following consultation, some families choose to explore what aging-in-place improvements might look like before making a final decision. Planning services are available on an as-needed basis and are quoted based on the scope and complexity of the project.

Whether you want to remain in your home, make it safer and more accessible, arrange additional support, or explore senior living communities, we help you understand your options and make informed decisions that reflect your needs, preferences, and circumstances.
Our goal is not to convince you to stay or move. It is to help you find the living arrangement that works for you.
The Sageful Home provides professional Aging in Place consultations, Home Safety Assessments and Educational Guidance to help individuals and families make informed decisions about aging, accessibility, and housing options.
Our recommendations are based on the information available at the time of the consultation and assessment, visual observations of the property, and discussions with the client. Our consultations and observations are advisory in nature and are not intended to replace evaluations or advice provided by licensed physicians, occupational or physical therapists, care managers, attorneys, financial advisors, engineers, or architects or other qualified professionals.
A consultation or assessment should not be interpreted as a guarantee that a home is free of hazards or that implementing our recommendations will eliminate all risks. Aging, health conditions, cognitive changes , and environmental factors continually evolve, and future reassessment may be appropriate.
The Sageful Home does not perform home building inspections as defined by state law, diagnose medical conditions, prescribe treatments, provide legal or financial advice, or guarantee outcomes. Any construction, remodeling, repairs, or installation of recommended modifications are separate services that require their own agreements and may be performed by our sister company Project Build Construction & Interiors or other qualified professional of client's choosing.
Clients remain responsible for their decisions regarding care, living arrangements, home modifications and the selection of service provider.

Meet Maria Nicholson, CAPS

I understand, I have been there.

My passion for helping seniors and their families began with my own family's journey.
Years ago, my mother was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease and faced increasing medical and care needs. Like many families, we found ourselves navigating difficult questions about safety, independence, caregiving, and quality of life. Looking back, I often wish we had access to the guidance and resources that could have helped us make decisions earlier and with greater confidence.
Today, as a Certified Aging-in-Place Specialist (CAPS), I help families evaluate their options and create a plan that aligns with their loved one's needs, goals, and circumstances. Whether that means remaining at home with modifications and support, exploring care options, or considering a move, my goal is to provide clear, compassionate guidance so families can make informed decisions before a crisis occurs.
Over the years, I have also worked extensively with older adults and their families through my design-build company, helping create safer, more accessible homes that support independence and quality of life. This experience gives me a practical understanding of the challenges families face and the solutions that may be available. Recommendations provided through The Sageful Home are always based on what is best for each family's unique situation.

Meet Calvin Nicholson, SRES
Trustworthy, Resourceful, Compassionate
My understanding of aging began early in life. I was raised by older adoptive
parents, and from a young age, I saw first hand how a person's needs can change with age, and how important it is to have people around you who genuinely care.
I lost both of my parents when I was only 21, but the experience of loving and
helping them stayed with me.
Years later, Maria and I became caregivers and decision-makers for her mother, who became my second mother, and for her aunt who was single and no children, as they both faced Alzheimer's Disease. We had to make some very difficult decisions, including recognizing when living at home was no longer the safest option. Who they moved into senior living, we stayed involved, advocated for their care, and did everything we could to make sure they were treated with dignity, compassion, and the medical attention they needed.
I also spent time working in property management in a 55+ community, which gave me another perspective, on the everyday concerns older adults face and the importance of planning before a crisis happens.
Today, as Co-Founder of The Sageful Home, I bring those experiences to every family we serve. I believe people deserve someone who will listen, help them understand their options, find the right resources, and never lose sight of the person at the center of the decision.
